EIFFEL TOWER

The Eiffel Tower is undoubtedly one of the wonders of the modern world and the most representative symbol of Paris, the world's most visited city and one of the most beautiful in the world. Indeed, it is very difficult if not impossible to imagine Paris without the Eiffel Tower or Paris without the Eiffel Tower to be seen from the top of it.

Yet the relation Paris-Eiffel Tower has been a soap opera, and that its construction was to save people a significant disagreement, the disagreement of the people, the Parisian, and a city that would eventually be like love everyone by the grandeur and beauty of the tower designed by Gustav Eiffel.

None of those who visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris do not know what they will find, as surely 100% of the millions of visitors each year receives Paris have seen before, or in any documentary or movie, either photograph or postcard, which does not mean that whoever sees it first in person was really impressed and amazed by the enormity of the Eiffel Tower, immensity increases until we place ourselves under their feet and try to get an idea of how it is possible that human beings have been able to build such a wonder.

Visited every year by more than 6 million visitors, the Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris, its international image and pride for the city, something unthinkable a hundred years ago, when the tower was being built despite strong opposition
of Parisian intellectuals and the street.

    Eiffel Tower History

Far from it may indicate the popularity and pride involved for the Parisian Eiffel Tower, the Eiffel Tower has had a complicated history, history that could end it at different times, but fortunately it remains firm, slim and proud controlling everything that happens in Paris, his home.

The construction works began in 1887 to commemorate the Universal Exposition celebrating the centenary of the French Revolution, after 3 years of studies by Eiffel and his assistants, 3 years of struggle against public opinion did not want a "Hulk" iron was useless and would cost a fortune. Finally, a March 31, 1889, the Eiffel Tower was inaugurated, that despite what its construction had cost in economic terms and the fight against the popular will, had an expiration date as it was intended to disarm the metal in 1900 when the Expo was over, and so would have been if not for the French army came up to do some tests with radio equipment at the top of the tower, revealing to use the Eiffel Tower for had not been built.

Currently there are several antennae crown the Eiffel Tower, and not just radio, but television, and indeed the presence of these antennas have raised the height of 312.27 meters, measuring up to 324 in 1889 meters measured in the present and represent the highest point of the city of Paris.

  Climb the Eiffel Tower

Climb the Eiffel Tower is a must, something that everyone who visits Paris to do, because if they go up is almost as if he had not been there.

To increase we have different options, all payment per case, of course. Sports enthusiasts may use the stairs (1665 steps or more or less), and others (the majority) there are lifts that can leave us well in the first or the second floor, a little option recommended for those who suffer from vertigo, especially if you run some wind. In the two altitudes where they can upload there are several souvenir shops, and two upscale restaurants. Say also that there is still above the third floor, overlooking even better (obviously), but few people dare to see, as is the top of the Eiffel Tower and fully perceive the movements of this little that there is a little breeze.

As for the view that is the best in Paris along with the Montparnasse Tower (which has the advantage of the absence of long lines and that is done in a conventional building where the wind and rain scares uncomfortable) and the Arc de Triomphe, much lower than the Eiffel Tower but with a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

At night the Eiffel Tower in Paris is always illuminated, and every half hour (or an hour depending on the season) looks for 10 minutes a flashing light that is truly spectacular, being able to see this anywhere in Paris and its surroundings.

Trevi Fountain

There should be no traveler passing through Rome, which did not appear at the world famous Trevi Fountain to admire and acknowledge it or not, throwing coins secretly hoping that the promise to return to the Eternal City.

The fountain is made of marble attached to the Palazzo Poli, which gives a new facade with Corinthian pilasters. The palazzo da Piazza di Trevi, the Quirinale hill. Although Rome has other, this is the largest (25.9 m high and 19.8 wide) of the baroque Roman sources and owes its fame largely to the movies.

When Pope Clement XII organized a contest of ideas to the source, changed its original location to the current face of the square for the pope could see her face from the Palazzo del Quirinale.
The source is located on an ancient Roman aqueduct and is accustomed to indicate the upwelling of water with a stack. Although in this case, in the Baroque period, a simple stack of old turned into a giant work of art of the time.
The Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful in Rome. With dimensions of 20 meters wide and 26 meters high, the Trevi Fountain is also the largest source of the city.

The origins of the source back to the year 19 BC, when the Fontana was the Aqua Virgo aqueduct final. The first fountain was built during the Renaissance, under the orders of Pope Nicholas V.
The final aspect of the Trevi fountain dates from 1762 when, after several years of work by the hand of Nicola Salvi, was completed by Giuseppe Pannini.
Curiously, the name derives from Tre Fountain Vie (three way), because the source was the meeting point of three streets.
The myth of the Trevi Fountain
Why there are always people throwing coins in the Trevi water and taking photos?

The myth, born with the movie "Three coins in the fountain" in 1954, reads as follows:
If you throw a coin return to Rome.
If you throw two coins: find love with an attractive Italian (or Italian).
If you throw three coins: you marry the person you met.

For this to work is recommended to throw the coin with his right hand on left shoulder.
A curious fact, each year draws about one million euros from the source. Since 2007, this money is used for charitable purposes.

The world's most beautiful source
For us, the Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful in the world. Both in the light of day as a warm light illuminated at night, the fountain is never without company.
One point that often blur the time of the visit is that the area is full of people trying to sell roses in a cramped, but just ignore them to continue enjoying such a special place.

The grand tour of Barcelona

El Paseo de Gracia is the avenue par excellence of the city. The place where the rising bourgeoisie of the Belle Epoque was in its carriage rides and where good-looking girls did their catwalk prenupial. It is a place with history which remains the heart of the city of rank and therefore more expensive per square meter of the city belongs to him even in times of crisis. Still, to understand the Paseo de Gracia must go back to the early nineteenth century, when Barcelona was still corseted by walls and surrounded by a plane which dawned farmhouses surrounded by fields that looked like a garden. Its boundaries were not going far beyond those walls. Leaving the site of the Angel began the way the neighborhood of Gracia, which looked at the back like a handful of popular houses. Around 1824 there was talk of building a ride with a good grove somewhere outside walls. Building on that road, it was a busy place due to nearby sources. To start with five rows of trees planted. The central path was to walk and circulated on the sides of carriages and wagons.

By 1840, the ride would become a major entertainment centers and amusement of the locals, or while the natural route of communication between the grace which grew and became independent from Barcelona in 1850. There were people at all times, with heavy traffic of cars and up and down steps. On both sides of the ride grew like mushrooms picnic areas, cafes, gardens, theaters and attractions of all kinds. In 1860 when the government of Isabel II imposes Cerdà's plan to urbanize the plain beyond the walls, the role of the walk is already structured flat. Although time and real estate speculation have nothing left of that original paradise.

A sample of the mess in the regulation observed in the Paseo de Gracia where there are no houses alike. Although it is true that this tour was a pioneer of modern urbanization and around him were the first houses of the expansion, but that seemed so impossible task eyedropper fill the large space between the old town and the village of Gràcia. But sooner or later the rich Barcelona true palaces were built and started the great migration, leaving behind the old dark palaces of St. Pere district to take appropriate modern mansions to modern times. The first generations of the School of Architecture of Barcelona, founded in 1875, will find this clientele eager to change the future foundation of modernist architecture. With which, even today, walking along the Paseo de Gracia is a walk in the Catalan Modernism.

From banks to its lamps, to almost every building of the promenade, this avenue is a perfect compendium of Catalan architecture of the end of the century. Case of the plain apple of discord between Consell de Cent i ride itself, which not only makes Domenech i Montaner's Casa Lleo Morera (1905), attached to it but found the house Amatller (1900) early work Puig i Cadafalch. Beside the house there Ametller Batlló House, Gaudí (1905-1907), blocks up the unmistakable Yunas Casa Milà or La Pedrera.

Passeig de Gracia and Rambla de Catalunya parallel have become two of the most important backbones of the city of Barcelona. Art, culture, history, and of course live trade on these two streets really major, converted for many years in undisputed symbol of the city. Some of the most prestigious international firms as well as some of the most renowned shops in Barcelona are spread over these two excellent rides where there have been some of the ideas and most impressive commercial projects in the city. Talk through it all.
